The Healthy Kids Club
for girls between the ages of 8 and 14 in the Val Verde community, provides opportunities for personal growth and to expand horizons in education, employment and careers. Girls are encouraged to resist negative peer pressures, while acquiring the skills needed to be a well rounded adult. Zonta members, active in professional careers, serve as role models and mentors to girls who might otherwise have limited exposure to women in professional and executive positions. coming up in Newhall at the Boys and Girls Club in October, this project provides free breast cancer screening to uninsured and underinsured women in our community. In partnership with the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, the Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley provides an opportunity for underserved women to receive breast exams and, if needed, further screening and care at little or no cost.
