2015 Tribute Co-Chairs
Elizabeth Hopp, Executive Vice President/Chief Banking Officer for Bank of Santa Clarita, has been named honoree for Zonta's Tribute to Women 2015. Elizabeth’s contributions to our community, the residents, non-profits and businesses, are many, including the Henry Mayo Hospital, Boys and Girls Club and the Michael Hoefflin Foundation. She has been on the board of the Committee on Ageing for about two years, and she currently holds the position of Vice President.
Hopp is a logical selection for the honor, both for her executive position in the financial field and for her sustained volunteer leadership. She has been on the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children's Cancer board for five years, serving as board secretary and chair of the Human Resources Committee. She is a current board member for Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, served as board chair from 2007 to 2009 and was a member of the Patient Care Committee from 2002 to 2010. She was an advisory board member for the Betty Ferguson Foundation and has been treasurer for the Friendz Philanthropic Organization since 1993.
She is also active in the SCV Chamber of Commerce, which she served as chief financial officer in 2003 and currently serves as secretary. She is currently chair of the SCV Boys & Girls Club board and an advisory board member for the SCV Child and Family Center. She was a former board member for the center and also served as vice chair in 1997.
Our friend and colleague, Elizabeth Hopp, exemplifies the ideals of Zonta. An outstanding community leader, she is the highest example of honesty, integrity, accountability, generosity and kindness, and we are honored to recognize her.
Although not a Zontian herself, Elizabeth has always believed in our mission and supported us in numerous personal and professional ways to assist in our effectiveness and sustainability.
This event will be fun, funny, entertaining, and there are many unique and interesting items in the live auction.
Zonta's mission is Empowering Women through Service and Advocacy. For 40 years in the Santa Clarita Valley, Zonta has been driven by its mission to improve the lives of women and girls in need, both locally and abroad.
Through diverse programs and projects, Zonta provides scholarships for aspiring business women, young women interested in aerospace careers, those considering public service, as well as those who require training for reentry into the work place; programs to support S.T.E.M. activities for girls, struggling single mothers and victims of domestic violence. In addition to numerous public relations, programs to increase awareness of the serious issues that adversely affect women and girls.
Through these activities, we are helping to develop future leaders from those who may not have been recognized for their potential to improve our community.
- Virginia Wrage Memorial Fund provides scholarships to women who are facing life altering mid-life challenges that threaten the everyday life of themselves and their children.
- LifeForward provides a series of workshops designed to assist women with the necessary skills to foster economic independence and self-sufficiency.
- Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program in partnership with the Domestic Violence Center of SCV provides Advocates to help victims understand prepare for and navigate the complex court system, in addition to being an advocate in the court hearings.
- The Girls Robotics Program provides young girls with the hands-on experience of building and programing robots, to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
- In addition, we provide The Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship the Jane M Klausman Scholarship and grants to local community agencies and organizations for their programs that support our mission.
This is Zonta’s major fundraiser; all the funds raised provide for the local programs and project for our community. We also support at least one International Amelia Earhart Fellowship every year. Amelia was a Zontian and the Fellowship is for young women pursuing a doctorate in aerospace-related science and aerospace-related engineering.
