Dianne Curtis is the Owner and President of Canyon Bulk, Inc., a trucking and construction company. Dianne is also the immediate past president of Zonta International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to advancing the status of women through service advocacy.
Cheri Fleming is the dealer principal and owner of Valencia Acura. Cheri is the current President of Soroptimist International of the Americas, a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
Each year the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita pays tribute to outstanding community members who have made a significant difference in the lives women and girls. This year, we have selected two remarkable women who have not only made a significant difference here in Santa Clarita, but who have also made a difference globally. This year we are honored to celebrate two local women with global impact, Dianne Curtis and Cheri Fleming.
Dianne and Cheri have a lot in common…they are both wives, mothers, grandmothers, successful business owners in male dominated fields, dedicated volunteers and have both served as President of global volunteer organizations seeking to improve the lives of women. Cheri Fleming is the dealer principal and owner of Valencia Acura. The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita, founded in 1974, is a dynamic organization of women working together to advance the status of women through service, advocacy and awareness. We do this by donating our time and the money we raise to service projects, scholarships, and grants aimed at enriching the lives of girls and women.
The Zonta Club of SCV is a proud member of Zonta International. Through Zonta International, we organize and perform international service projects and have representation in the United Nations.
Local Service Projects
LifeForward- free monthly workshops designed to empower women, covering topics aimed at supporting economic confidence, promoting independence and enabling self-sufficiency.
Girls Robotics- Girls ages 11 – 14 learn to design, program and control Lego Mindstorm Robots. Our team is designed to foster interest and develop skills in science, technology, engineering and math.
Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program- trained advocates are provided to support victims working their way through the court system.
Zonta Says No- an annual awareness campaign in our community, designed to raise awareness and increase actions to end violence against women and girls.
Young Women in Public Affairs- undergraduate awards to women committed to leadership in public policy and volunteer organizations.
Jane M. Klauseman Women in Business - undergraduate and graduate awards to women pursuing degrees in business.
Virginia Wrage Memorial Fund- grants to women over the age of forty following a life changing event.
Community Grants- grants to local organizations aligned with our mission. Past recipients have included the SCV Domestic Violence Center, Girl Scouts, Single Mothers Outreach, and The Child and Family Center.
2013 Tax Notation:
The amount of a ticket to the 2013 Tribute event which is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess over the value of the goods or services provided by the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation. The tax-deductible portion of your ticket is $75.00

It was an evening of laughter, tears and fundraising in the Santa Clarita Valley as Marlee Lauffer, senior vice president of marketing and communications at Newhall Land, was celebrated for her "Awesome Elegance" at the 29th annual Zonta Tribute Dinner hosted by the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley.

"for Improving the Status of Women through Community Service"
Each year, Zonta invites other community service organizations to nominate one of their own members who has contributed to the improvement of the status of women through volunteer service to their organization. Each nominee is recognized at our annual "Women in Service" (formerly "Status of Women") Celebration in early Spring. Our committee selects one of the nominees to receive the coveted "Carmen Sarro Award" for outstanding community service.

Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley invites your organization to participate in our 30th annual Women in Service Celebration brunch scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club. This program allows organizations in our community to recognize women throughout the valley who, through their leadership, have made a difference.
All honorees will be considered for the "Carmen Sarro Community Service Award".. The award recognizes and celebrates the life of our dear member, Carmen Sarro, who had such a positive impact on the people and organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The nomination form is available online, so you can download it and e-mail it to Chris Miller, WIS Chair - email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please complete it with approval from your organization, if appropriate, and return it by February 24, 2014. Instructions are included in the online form. Please visit www.scvzonta.org and select “Events” and then “Women in Service” to get the form.
This year, we're able to offer a new option to any organization who would like to pre-purchase one entire table that guarantees your organization to be seated together at an upgraded table location. Your organization will also receive an advertisement in our program. The cost for a table of 8 guests is $350.00, payable by February 10, 2014.
