Dr. Sharon Langenbeck becomes Zonta International President

Dr. Sharon Langenbeck, member of the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley, was installed as Zonta International President on July 17, 2020.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Zonta International Convention to be held in Chicago, was cancelled.  However, thanks to virtual media, Zontians from around the world were able to watch the installation of officers via Zoom.  We are so proud of Sharon.  As one of our members, Patrice Rifkind stated, "First you went into a STEM field as a career at a time that so few women have done or even wanted to. This really helps girls and women since they are able to look up to you as a role model. Then you joined the Zonta club, further helping girls and women to succeed. Then, when you might have relaxed with such success achieved in your career - THEN you become the International President of Zonta to continue an even greater degree of inspiration for girls and women. Wow!"  Wow is correct.  Sharon is the first Zonta International President to be an Amelia Earhart Fellow.  In Sharon's words, "I am just Sharon"

Reassuring to see a former engineer(problem solver) bringing Zonta along on the global humanitarian Renewable Energy transition – adopting practical measures to combat planet heating.
