International Youth Day 2021
International Youth Day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. The first International Youth Day was observed on August 12, 2000.
The theme of International Youth Day 2021 is, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, with the aim of highlighting that the success of such a global effort will not be achieved without the meaningful participation of young people.
It has been acknowledged that there is a need for a process that ensures our youth will continue to amplify efforts collectively and individually to restore the planet and protect life. It is a necessity to educate and mentor our youth to continue the research on our earth’s food systems.
This year’s International Youth Day intends to provide a program for young people to continue the momentum for years to come. This year, International Youth Day will be virtually convened by DESA in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Major Group for Children and Youth.
There is a need to invest in youth development with our Z and Golden Z clubs so, we can mentor young leaders in a variety of subjects that are viable to our community. And by empowering and educating them now, they will be our next generation of Zonta leaders that can help change our community and even the world.
Celebrate today, by supporting our Z Club at Golden Valley High School. These students are amazing and can do incredible things for our valley.
