Zonta Club of SCV’s 16 Days of Activism
We believe in making the world a better place by empowering women and girls. Zonta stands for women's rights. We advocate for equality, education, and an end to child marriage and all gender-based violence. Our club’s advocacy efforts brings awareness of these issues to the Santa Clarita Valley community and beyond.
Gender-based violence includes psychological, physical and sexual abuse of girls, women and trans women.
Violence against women and girls is a severe violation of human rights. Violence not only affects women negatively; it also affects their families and communities. It knows no barriers; it takes place at home, in the workplace and in open spaces. It affects millions of women and girls in peacetime and during conflict.
Domestic violence is happening in our neighborhoods and it cannot be ignored. We must be "upstanders, not bystanders." This means everyone must speak up if we see or hear of domestic and family violence.
Like Zonta International, we envision a world in which no woman lives in fear of sexual violence, domestic violence, child marriage, or human trafficking.
